Boarding & Lessons

At Smithbridge Stable, we offer board options to satisfy everyone. In addition, the Owner/Head Trainer lives on the property above the barn so she can hear every noise in the barn below--from a horse neighing to a pony kicking. If an emergency should arise, she will be there in a flash.

Inside Board: For the inside boarder we have excellent matted box stalls and 28 acres of fenced-in property. All inside boarders spend most of the day turned out if the weather permits. Our barn contains only the best for your four-legged-friend: the matted stalls are always filled with clean, quality shavings, quality hay, and fresh water, and the horses receive the best of care by our horse-loving, hard-working staff.

Outside Board: Many experts feel that allowing the horse to choose when to go in and when to go out is the healthiest, and happiest, environment for a horse. It also provides a more affordable boarding option. With outside board, your horse will have a large, grassy field with a shed to protect them from the weather, and the pastures are cleaned often to avoid build-up of manure. Horses are usually turned out with one or more other horses, depending on the size of the field and the temperament of your horse. However, if requested, or if your horse doesn't get along with others, he will have his own field.

Lease Options: Smithbridge Stable also offers 3 lease options. You can choose to lease a horse or pony for either a half-lease or a full lease, or chose the "Open Lease", which allows you to ride any of the school horses as long as they are not being used in a lesson. With a half-lease, you get to ride the horse or pony 3 or more times per week and some one else will also be riding that horse or pony. With a full lease, you are the only one riding him or her. Board is included in the price of the lease. This is a great way to experience horse ownership without actually having to buy a horse!

Customer Tack Room: If you board or lease a horse at Smithbridge, you are provided with a locker in the customer tack room. Each secure wooden locker is equipped with a saddle rack as well as two bridle hooks. There is also space for all of your other equipment, such as grooming supplies, riding clothes and horse treats.

Lessons: Smithbridge Stable offers half-hour and hour lessons, both private and semi-private, specializing in hunt seat or stock seat. In addition, you can purchase lessons in bulk to save money. With 6 instructors and 3 rings to ride in (with lights!), there is always a riding time available for you!
