Summer Camp

Smithbridge Stable holds several horse camps during the summer. They run for five days, from ten to three. There are several camps offered throughout the summer. There is also an advanced camp, for more experienced riders. Advanced camp requires permission from a Smithbridge trainer or by invitation. Summer camp at Smithbridge is a great experience for kids up to 15 years old. It teaches the basics of horsemanship and riding, while having a LOT of fuN!

Various activities are held during the summer camps at Smithbridge Stable. Every day, the campers have an hour-long session working on their skills as a rider. Each camper will work with multiple trainers and will be in the same ring as other children with similar needs. Some of the afternoon activities include: Bathing & Grooming, Lunging, Clipping & Braiding, Bareback Riding, Side Saddle, Arts & Crafts, and Scavenger Hunt. All of these activities allow the campers to learn about horses and riding in a safe and fun environment.

In addition to the riding instructors, a number of people will be there to help the campers: camp staff as well as camp "helpers". Camp helpers are usually older children who have a lot of experience with horses, and have been riding at Smithbridge for a while.
